Silence:

It is Friday, and I have to say that this is my favorite day of the week. Silence is something I have truly grown to appreciate the older I become. As a child, I needed some sort of background noise to feel relaxed. However, now in my late forties, I look forward to silence.

Take for a moment all the noise that consumes your day: media, work, family, friends, and hobbies. It appears we rarely have quiet moments. However, these quiet moments are a great opportunity to reconnect with Christ. I like to refer to this time as my, “Me time.”

During a specific time each day, I arise early to an empty living space. I simply calm my thoughts, sit by the fireplace, light a candle for Christ, read scripture, and pray a rosary. Then, I quietly reminisce on cherished memories of dear friends and family members who are no longer with us. It is quite a beautiful time. In these moments I can truly focus my whole energy on Christ. If you are not a morning person, I encourage you to find a time that works for you.

Prayer:

Dear Heavenly Father, please help me to find a quiet moment to center myself on you and your will for me. Help me to better understand your teachings through sacred scripture and open my heart to new revelations of your love. I ask all this in your name. Amen.
