What’s your best moment, morning or night?…
Good morning! Yes, I am an early bird and a talker, but generally not immediately. I do need coffee and prayer first because I enjoy the alone time of silence where I can meditate on Christ to the tune of the beat of my heart. It’s lovely. Even my poor family understands that it’s my “Do not disturb time.” They’re all supportive.
I got the idea as I was deployed to Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2003, and the likelihood of finding alone time with silence was scarce. But, then an idea came to me that I’d arise before my coworkers and head to our work location to sit, be still, pray, and drink coffee. After an hour, I was 100% ready to tackle everything even the mental challenges that come with these types of hardships.
Yet, not everyone is a morning person. I have lived with many night owls. That’s wonderful as well because we all need to be different to make the world unique and make ourselves accessible to Christ within the 24 hours timeframe. So, when is your best time? For example, do you have more time to meditate with true mindfulness in the morning before others arise or do you relax and become attentive as everyone is falling asleep. Either way, any type of personality has a time for oneself, and it’s made even more fruitful and strengthening as you spend this time with the Lord. Trust me! It’s fascinating because it’s much like exercise. The getting started part is always a challenge but once you’ve finished you feel so glad you completed it. I have been taking this moment for myself for 22 years and have yet to grow weary of it. I do feel uncomfortable if I am traveling and can’t find this time, but somehow, I always make it up at some part of my day. I encourage you to try it. 😊 God bless!
